Fanart: Sole Survivor by samisi Fanart: Sole Survivor by samisi
They call him Trilby. And as a name, it suffices.

...

I don't know what's up with me. I just looked at that old as hell picture, and realised I'd made him smile. Now, he shouldn't be smiling in that scene. He simply. Shouldn't. </general insane inanity>

The Trilbster belongs to Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw.
You know, the Zero Punctuation guy.
(Seriously.)

Also, this is dedicated to ~dragoncaim360, because it really needs to be. As a bit of a friendly 'thank you'.

I've seen both pics, and while they're both good, I think I like this one a bi better. I think the color makes it creepier (especially with the fire in the background).

BTW, this is fav'd at :iconblessedagonies:. Would you like me to add it? :)

Oh, thank you kindly! I appreciate that all the more since it happens to coincide with my personal opinion. *wink* Not that I'd mind if it didn't.

I'm very honoured, and I would be even more honoured if you decided to add it. The Mythos is a lovely little series of games the tribute of which I would be happy to pay communally.

You captured the look of Trilby perfectly, which most people don't. Awesome.

Okay, you captured the look of Trilby better than most people, who tend to make him look young.

Mm, yes. That's one thing I actually did think not to do. To me, at least, if would have sabotaged his character.

True. But it's just that I feel that the big video game companies should take note and follow Mr. Yahtzee's example, he's a genius for story-telling and I can't help but sympathise for his characters, especially good Ol' Trilbs here.

*nods affirmation* You make a very good point. I really hope he will have the time and energy to work on more games in the future, but for now I'm looking forward to reading his book.

From what I can gather he's retired from making games but yeah I agree with you, I hope he goes back into it every now and then when he has something new, I still need to play his others

*thoughtful nod* Yes. In a fairly recent interview, he said something about how he always had ideas for games in his head (paraphrasing), but there's a lack of time and funding for the over-ambitious projects they constitute.

To be honest, as twisted as this sounds, I like the version where he's smiling. O_O.

Some people go insane with loss, and go into maniac depressions = SMILE WHILE YOU WORK

I must admit though, the 'burnt photo'look was a nice touch <3

I'm very happy you like it. I was afraid I'd gone totally over-the-top with that.

... And just so you know I wasn't just blurting out random compliments, by 'sharp' I meant 'decently noticeable and incapable of meddling with the rest of the art." They're distinctly and stylishly blurred.

I would be unable to give criticism even if I WERE an artist... so all I can do is patronize and pat you on the back. *Sighs* ...Sorry.

Hahahaha~! Oh, you are a wonder, aren't you.

Don't worry about it, I say. I've long since realised that your criticism, rather than dealing with the technicalities, moves on the plain of abstract, emotional response.
To be honest, that's a big reason to why I appreciate it so much. And I don't say that because I have a particular problem with having my technical missteps pointed out, but because I find a greater joy in getting to know the emotional reaction of my 'audience'.

That aside, mister, you most definitely are an artist. In my definition of the term, that is.

I'm glad my criticism makes you happy... if that's the case, I'll most certainly continue to tell you what I think.

And let me rephrase that: I can't draw worth shit. >_>

I assure you it does. Makes me feel my work to be all manners of worthwhile. So, thank you. :rose:

*chuckle* Still, even if you could, that wouldn't ascertain your being an artist in my eyes. But, yes, I'm annoying you about semantics when I do know what you meant in the first place. *sigh* Sorry. It's the kinda bastard I am.
